Here’s the original soul sister story from a 2010 blog post. (I pieced it together from the lost blog ruins.)

This is one of my favorite necklaces to make.

When I first listed one in the store,  I included a description of the soul sisters that typically come to mind.

The women that you instantly know, form a connection with, or recognize from an unknowable past. Beautiful souls who inspire you energetically, often quietly, to be…see…do Something!

I must confess, however, that the original soul sister was created on a gloomy, difficult day, by a sad little me.

As I worked her into existence, the necklace became an honoring image of the shifting of moods and perspectives within. The ability to allow my blue sky sunny self to walk hand in hand with what appears to be my moody complexity. Only then came the love. And the realization of the soul sisters within.

The brightest chalcedony and grey-cloud labradorite are intertwined in this empowering design…reminding me that reflections of one upon the other only accentuate the beauty of both.

Mysterious cloudy iridescence. Brilliant blue wonder. I need the contrast as much as the combination.

So there you have it. The true story of the soul sister.

Admittedly, I was surprised to find myself in a transformed state by the time the necklace was complete. And I’ve been equally surprised to find myself busy with requests for more soul sisters.

My heart smiles. With each creation, I am reminded of all the soul sisters who have passed through, who will come, and who will always be within.
